Are you planning a trip to Westport, Ireland, and wondering where to stay? Westport offers a variety of accommodations to choose from. No matter what your budget is, you will be able to find an accommodation to suit your needs.

Westport has a wide selection of hotels to choose from. Some of the hotels even include golf courses for those who love a challenging game of golf. If you would rather relax than play golf, some of the hotels offer a spa to relax in.

An alternative accommodation to choose from in Westport is their bed and breakfasts. You will be able to experience that true Irish hospitality while you stay at one of the many bed and breakfasts in this area. They offer luxurious accommodations with amenities such as kitchenettes, and some even offer aromatherapy and massage.

But if hotels and bed and breakfasts are not what you are looking for, then check out their parks for RV’s and trailers; these parks offer camping space for backpackers as well. So if you would rather go camping, the parks might be a good option for you. They include the necessary facilities that you will need to make your stay enjoyable.

Westport Ireland is a beautiful small town located in western Ireland’s County Mayo. The town, population 6000, was created by 18th century architect James Wyatt for Lord Sligo. Clew Bay and the Carrowbeg River are meccas for fisherman from around the world. Clew Bay also boasts an archaeological trail with guideposts leading to abbey ruins and the National Famine Monument commemorating the great potato famine of Ireland. One highlight is the tomb of Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley.

Another mecca for history and archeology buffs is Ceide Fields said to contain the worlds largest collection of Stone Age monuments and megalithic tombs dating back some 5000 years. A visit to the welcome center affords visitors opportunities to view exhibits and displays with explanations in English and Irish. The area is replete with majestic rock formations and fantastic views from the cliffs.

Scaling Croagh Patrick Mountain is a rewarding experience since legend has it this is where Ireland’s patron saint, Patrick spent 40 days and 40 nights in prayer and meditation prior to driving all the snakes out of Ireland. In addition to a chapel situated on the top of the mountain, evidence still exists of places where St. Patrick performed baptisms.

Whether you use your small business xo internet connection or book through a travel agent, a visit to Westport shouldn’t be concluded without a stop at one of these great restaurants:
Temptations: Despite the terrible name, Temptations has the best Irish and European cuisine in the area. It’s reasonably priced but makes for a great date night if you happen to be in Westport with your spouse or partner.
Sage: If you’re looking for world-class Italian in the depths of Ireland, you’ve come to the right place! It’s slightly upscale but Sage makes for a memorable meal after a long day of fishing and it’s some of the best Italian interpretations this side if Italy!
Quay Cottage and Restaurant: Traditional Irish food in a quaint setting? What’s more to ask for? The locals eat here so you know it’s good and if you’ve got your eye on something hearty and traditional, this is your spot. It’s inexpensive, too, and great for lunch.

Visitors to Westport, Ireland may think they are in chocolate heaven when they include a stop at Marlene’s Chocolate Haven for a mug of hot chocolate and a currant scone. This place is a cut above the rest with their hot chocolate. Chocolate is first melted into the cup, before the homemade hot chocolate is added to the cup. Then the whole thing is topped with yummy melted marshmallow. It should be accompanied with the currant scone that will melt in your melt, leaving the plump currants to be enjoyed.
After enjoying the hot chocolate and scones, visitors will need a way to burn off some calories. Many head to Electric Escapes in hopes of having that experience. The truth of the matter is these electric bicycles burn almost no calories as the engine does the work for you. However, it is a superb way to visit the area. Visitors will enjoy the breathtaking views as they climb the mountain for a specially prepared picnic lunch, using locally grown organic foods, set among the ancient woodlands. After lunch, the daring can enjoy a kayaking adventure. Those who want to be pampered, however, will delight in the specially prepared seaweed bath massage.

My family just came from Westport and had a spectacular much needed
holiday. It’s found in County Mayo, Ireland. We haven’t been to
Ireland and my cousins said it was a good place for a fishing holiday.
And they were right. The kids had a blast at trying the fishing rods.
It was really their first time to experience deep sea angler fishing
and my teenage kids got crazy on being the one to catch the first
fish.

Going through the sites in Count Mayo was also pretty interesting.
Historical sites were amazing. It was like being transported centuries
back. We took pictures of all the churches that we could find. Some
buildings were postcard picture perfect.

We missed the Sea Angling Festival which was just last week. But the
festive mood was still there. I just hope we could come back for the
Westport Seafood Festival this October. Oh the kids just love to eat
fish and crabs! Family holidays must just be like this trip to
Westport, great sites to see, good food, fun shopping and a fishing
adventure to top a holiday. I didn’t have any problem with
accommodations and that’s a ‘plus ten’ votes for me.
